Key Issues

Government Transparency

The majority of city revenue is collected through sales tax.  It's no secret that we have many empty retail spaces throughout the city, and the recent Covid-19 crisis has only made a growing problem worse.  The second and third order effects of recent months remain to be seen, but if elected to serve, I will work hard to diversify our city's income and will do everything in my power to make sure your tax dollars are spent wisely and with transparency.  Attracting light industry, investing in local, small businesses, and being prudent and forthright with expenditures and city finances, are just some of the ways we can ensure that Trussville remains the Gateway to Happy Living for future generations.

Protection for All

As a member of the military and the daughter of a retired Alabama State Trooper, public safety is of the utmost importance to me.  Even the very best of communities cannot thrive unless every single citizen feels safe and protected.  If elected, I will fully support our police and fire departments, and will continue to fund all necessary equipment and training, ensuring their tradition of service at the highest levels of effectiveness and professionalism.  The men and women of our police and fire departments are active in the community, work hard to earn our trust and respect, and keep our families safe.  As your representative, I will work tirelessly to help these very essential departments keep pace with our growing city.

For a Better Future

Trussville City Schools are one of the main reasons families move to Trussville; they are truly in the top echelon of our state.  Having safe, advanced schools, and the very best teachers, benefits every citizen, and should continue to be a top priority in Trussville.  If elected to serve, I will continue to fund and support our schools at a high level, and pledge to work with the school board and administration to ensure we offer the very best in education.  I specifically support the idea of an education corridor, one that would offer hands-on skills training and job preparation for the next generation.  I'm so proud to be a Hewitt-Trussville graduate, and that foundation has been the bedrock of my pursuit of advanced degrees and my professional career.  I firmly believe that investing in a solid educational foundation for every child will benefit our city for years to come.

"Buy land, they're not making anymore." - Mark Twain

If recent events have proven anything, it's that green space is a luxury often taken for granted.  I firmly believe that the citizens, not corporations or developers, should decide what is best for our city.  If elected, I promise to actively work to protect and expand green space and parks throughout Trussville.  The Cahaba River runs through the heart of our city, and it will remain a jewel for our children and grandchildren if we work to manage runoff, protect its tributaries within our city limits, like Pinchgut Creek, and support local cleanup and preservation efforts.  I'm proud of my work with the grassroots group that opened Cahaba Dog Park, and as your representative, I will gladly champion and promote all

efforts to preserve, protect and improve our city.
