Key Issues

DIVERSIFYING CITY REVENUE AND SPENDING YOUR TAX DOLLARS WISELY

Government Transparency

The majority of city revenue is collected through sales tax.  Moving forward, we must diversify our revenue streams and balance out our heavy reliance on sales tax.  During my first term, my voting record reflects my strong support of efforts to diversify our city's income and ensure tax dollars were spent wisely.  If re-elected, I will remain dedicated to attracting light industry; investing in local, small and new businesses; controlling growth; protecting existing neighborhoods; improving and updating infrastructure; and strategically trimming expenditures.  I pledge to continue to do all I can to ensure that Trussville remains the Gateway to Happy Living for future generations.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Protection for All

As a member of the military and the daughter of a retired Alabama State Trooper, public safety is of the utmost importance to me.  Even the very best of communities cannot thrive unless every single citizen feels safe and protected.  During my first term, my voting record reflects my full support of our police and fire departments.  I consistantly voted "yes” to fund all necessary equipment and training for both departments, ensuring their tradition of service at the highest levels of effectiveness and professionalism was sustained.  The men and women of our police and fire departments are active in the community, work hard to earn our trust and respect, and keep our families safe.  If re-elected, I will continue to work tirelessly to help these very essential departments keep pace with our growing city.

EDUCATION

For a Better Future

Trussville City Schools are one of the main reasons families move to Trussville; they are truly in the top echelon of our state.  Having safe, advanced schools, and the very best teachers, benefits every citizen, and should continue to be a top priority in Trussville.  During my first term, I consistently voted "yes" to fund and support our schools at a high level, and if re-elected, I pledge to continue that unwavering support to ensure we offer the very best in education.  As a proud graduate of Hewitt-Trussville High School, I know firsthand the lasting impact a strong educational foundation can have.  My years as a Hewitt Husky shaped my path through college, advanced degrees, and into my professional career.  I remain committed to ensuring every child in Trussville has access to the same high-quality education that opened doors for me.  By investing in our students today, we build a stronger, brighter Trussville for tomorrow.

CONSERVATION AND GREEN SPACE

"Buy land, they're not making anymore." - Mark Twain

Green space in a thriving city is a luxury often taken for granted.  My voting record reflects my belief that decisions about green space in our city should be shaped by the voices of our citizens.  If re-elected, I will continue working hard to protect and improve parks and green spaces across Trussville.  The Cahaba River runs through the heart of our city, and it's our responsibility to preserve it for future generations.  From managing runoff to protecting tributaries like Pinchgut Creek and supporting local cleanup efforts, I remain committed to stewardship.  I'm proud to have helped create Cahaba Dog Park through grassroots collaboration, and if re-elected, I will continue to champion and promote all efforts to preserve, protect and improve our city.
